Nancy was such a friend. If she saw someone who seemed ner-vous and out of place, Nancy walked over and started a conversation. “Sit next to me,” she would tell the shy person. Nancy cared. She would give of herself in every way possible. She would give her time (of which she had very little), and her energy (which she had in abundance). She would listen to her friends’ problems and they would become her problems. She would offer emotional support. She would cheer up those who were down. And she would never ever turn her back on a friend.
When one has experienced the love of a true friend, and the trust and caring that accompanies such a friendship, the loss of that friend is crushing. Nancy’s friends felt her love. Now, they feel that loss. A true friend is not easy to come by. Nancy will remain in the hearts of the many, many friends she touched. “And Yonatan loved him as his own soul.” These words can be used to describe the love that Nancy and her friends shared with one another. Such love can never be forgotten.
