Dear Mr. and Mrs. Morgenstern,
I am one of Nancy’s teammates.
We raced together some, but mostly trained together. I met you
both a couple of years ago at the race at Harriman State
Park. You were there watching Nancy and my mother was there watching me. When
I told my mom about Nancy she remembered her and both of you right away. Nancy’s
amazing spunk and zest for life, her determination, made such a strong and
positive impression.
I don’t know what I can tell
you that you haven’t heard from a
million others who adored her. But I can tell you that every time I want to
get the team together I still want to call her. I could always count on her
to mobilize us and pull us together. When none of the other women would show,
Nancy would be there. When I think of racing next season, I look forward to
racing with Nancy before I remember that I can’t. Knowing she was out
there to ride with and to talk to made life better, made racing more fun.
