Nancy and I met in high school when we went on a ski trip together to Vermont. We were friends ever since that trip. Nancy was fun and we both enjoyed traveling. We went to California twice in one summer together all on free tickets as well as a free hotel stay which she was happy to share. We hung out together often in the city with a group of friends. Years later I moved out of New York for almost five years and we kept in touch sporadically and later when I moved back to New York (before making Aliyah) we had her over for a couple of shabbat meals and I saw her on several occasions. When she was thinking of switching to Cantor we talked about it for a while since I had been working in finance for years. I saw Nancy last one night while walking late one Saturday night on Broadway. She had seen me walking by (she was in a restaurant) and she ran out to the street to talk and we talked for a while. I can still hear her laugh often and see her smile regularly. I miss her.Nancy also went to see my husband, Mark Loebenberg, who is an Orthopaedic surgeon when she had injured herself while riding. She told me several times she needed to make an appointment with him but wanted to wait until after a big race. She was nervous he would tell her to skip the race and she was determined to race.Your book is a wonderful tribute to the vivacious friendliness, endless enthusiasm, and compassionate concern which made Nancy such a treasured part of so many of our lives.AlyssaAlyssa A.
