Dear Mr. & Mrs. Morgenstern,
I raced with Nancy for many years.
I did not know her well, but she was a constant presence: riding
in Central Park in the
morning or the evening, at local club
races, at races out of town. She loved racing her bike, a sport that does not
attract many women, and certainly not many who participate with the level of
eagerness and spunk that she displayed. She had that “never give up” attitude
that is necessary in such a physically and mentally demanding sport. She never
was content to just “sit in” and play it safe. At numerous races,
she would be attacking the field trying to get away, or just making everybody
work harder.
